Other New Work

I'm also working on some glass panels inspired by a walk on the beach and looking at the sea on the North Antrim Coast in Northern Ireland

I have been working with both clear and coloured glass, looking at what lies beneath the waves.

Here are a few pictures of my work in progress

Preparing for SpaceCRAFT Exhibition

Another busy week in the studio preparing for the "Collective Creativity" Exhibition which opens next Thursday evening at SpaceCraft in Belfast.

I hadn't expected for the three plinths that will display my work to take so long to prepare, and have spent most the week oiling & rubbing them down. But really pleased with the final result.

Here's a sneak preview of one of the finished pieces, it's inspired by the mountains and glens in Northern Ireland

More Work for the Exhibition

Have had another fairly busy week in the studio making for the up & coming exhibition at SpaceCRAFT opening on 3rd May.

I must have made about five or six pieces over the last week & most have been successful. Here's a few pictures of them.

And this one was my favourite but had a stress fracture. But will recreate it again on another firing cycle.

I'm going to display them all on wooden plinths. Just need to choose three now for the exhibition.

Productive week

After weeks of being in the creative doldrums, I've finally got some inspiration this week.

It started with making a small test piece for an up & coming & quickly approaching exhibition that I'm taking part in next month at SpaceCRAFT in Belfast.

Once my glass cutter got started it was if it had a mind of its own! And ideas and work started flooding out.

The first is based on getting back to nature after a fantastic walk on the beach. Standing there thinking about what is under the beautiful blue sea along the North Antrim Coastline here in Northern Ireland.

The others are loosely based around the Glens and mountains. Abstracting them like a textile artist would interpret them but instead of using materials and threads using layers of glass

I am going to slump this piece over a double curved mould to make it free standing.
