The Churchill Archive Centre, Churchill College, Cambridge

On Monday I visited the Archive Centre at Churchill College, Cambridge that hold the personal archives of Winston Churchill, Margaret Thatcher, Neil Kinnock and Enoch Powell to name but a few.
This year it has been made a stipulation of "The Steven's Competition" to make a site visit.
I was shown the site of the window as well as some of the archives stored in the archives including Margaret Thatchers famous blue handbag which she used daily while she was Prime Minister, Winston Churchill's dispatch box, as well has some of his speeches. All very interesting and although I have photo's I am not allowed to post them because of copyright issues.
The window for the competition is the two above the door that start on the landing of the staircase to the archive centre and can be seen in the photo's. Full details of the competition can be found at www.worshipfulglaziers.com/site-docs/Churchill_webversion.pdf

Visit to Cambridge

I went to Cambridge last weekend to visit my sister and because I had an appointment to visit the Archive Centre at Churchill College the site of this years Steven's competition. It was the first time that I had visited the college side of the city and loved the atmosphere of the city on Valentines Day.
There are some great art galleries and craft shops and came across one with a great range of glass both stained glass panels, fused bowls and dishes it also had the work of Amanda Brisbane that is renowned for her sandcasting of glass.
